說明: The district of Ernakulam has its own history. The lesser-known twin of the famous Cochin or Kochi, Ernakulam has its own past legacy and charm apart from housing Cochin in its district. Ernakulam is the deviation from the actual word of Eranyakulam in the local dialect, which means the abode of Shiva. The district of Ernakulam was formed in 1958 carving out the regions of Malabar, Travancore and the Kochi Kingdoms. Important cities like the Alwaye and Cochin are situated in the district of Ernakulam.
